About Hurtigruten

Hurtigruten, known as “the world’s most beautiful voyage”, is the best way to experience the real Norway. With more than 120 years of maritime experience and a fleet of 11 ships with daily departures, there is no better way to explore the true Norwegian way of life than with Hurtigruten.

Since 1893 Hurtigruten’s ships have been a vital link between the cities, remote, tranquil hamlets and historic settlements, carrying local passengers and freight back and forth between daily ports of call, linking southern and northern Norway. Today, their arrival is still expected to be on schedule every day, all year round, with the inhabitants relying on the Hurtigruten ships to bring essential groceries and supplies, or to take them to the nearest town for shopping.

When you sail with Hurtigruten you are truly a part of Norway, a part of a Norwegian tradition and a part of its destination and local life as you visit and explore these communities. At each port you can expect something different. Explore the smaller ones on foot, by bike (available for hire from the ship) or stay on board and watch as goods and passengers leave or join.

The fleet of purpose built ships have been designed for the waters in which they sail. This means they take you closer and deeper into the heart of this spectacular landscape that other ships simply are not able to reach, allowing you to become a part of every port you visit and providing unique views and memories that will last you a lifetime.

Thanks to the newest members, Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria, P&O is now the largest fleet (or should we say family) in Australia. Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria will offer a whole new level of innovation.
Our unrivalled experience combined with the perfect sized ships mean we can cruise to destinations no other cruise lines can including Pentecost in Vanuatu, Vava’u in Tonga, Kavieng and Madang in Papua New Guinea, Moreton Island in Australia, Timor-Leste and Norfolk Island.

As the only cruise line in Sydney Harbour on Australia Day, there’s no better place to be than front and centre with us. As for Australia’s greatest sporting event, not only did we pioneer Melbourne Cup cruising, we do it like no one else, with the option to take an exclusive behind-the-scenes Shore Tour^ of Flemington Racecourse a day before the big race.

Each ship offers incredible and varied dining choices, entertainment from day into night and activities for all tastes and moods, and the largest shore tour program in the region.
